Writings of the Stone Tablets
- Non-destructive quarrying.
Restore environment to a natural look or place a building instead.
Example: To gather sand and sandstone, get sand from a desert, fill the hole with replacement blocks (e.g. dirt) and put a top layer of sand. Sandstone can be easily gathered from underground tunnels in desert biomes, removing the bottom sandstone block(s) if more than one exists in the bottom layer.
- Retain ocean water springs.
It is strictly forbidden to create water flow in ocean tiles, natural lakes
and swamps (with the exception of mob traps).
Carefully avoid mis-placing blocks in ocean tiles; if a water flow is created,
place water springs whenever possible (requires an adjacent block).
Flows induced by digging holes to gather clay and other resources should be
filled with naturally occuring blocks such as dirt and sand.
- The worlds 'r' us.
Keep in mind to coordinate building efforts with your neighbours, think twice
before choosing a region for a new building or sculpture (e.g. sandstone
pyramids belong to deserts and no other biome).
- Shut off unused cave segments and tunnels.
Explored and mined cave segments and tunnels that are no longer of any use
should have their torches removed and shut off.
This helps to keep the Underworld map clean (only lit areas are shown) and
saves torches.
Additionally, if a building is nearby, use an erratic pattern of dirt and
cobblestone to fill up the shut off caves and tunnels.
Leave 1x1 block gaps between fill material such that no mob can spawn inside
and the nearby buildings are free of groaning zombie surround (and keeps the
mob rate low for the chunk, important for mob farms).
Also such an erratic pattern does not occur naturally and helps diggers to
easily identify those areas.
